Dental & Orthodontic Services We Offer

We look at your whole smile: how your teeth line up, how healthy they are underneath, and how confident you feel sharing them. Located in the heart of Montrose, our studio offers everything from cleanings and checkups to braces, Invisalign, and cosmetic smile finishing. With a general dentist and a board-certified orthodontist working side by side, your care is planned together, from straightening your teeth to finishing the details, and your cleaning is performed by the doctor herself. Whether you have been putting off finding a dentist, want straighter teeth without feeling like a number, or simply want to be treated like a person, we would love to be that place.

── Meet Your Doctors

Meet Dr. Sara Mouzi & Dr. Daniel Escobedo

Dr. Sara Mouzi and Dr. Daniel Escobedo met in 2006 at Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas, graduated together in 2010, and married soon after. Sara is a proud Houstonian who graduated from the Michael E. DeBakey High School for Health Professions and earned her B.S. in Biology and Chemistry with honors from the University of Houston. Daniel grew up in Corpus Christi, earned his Biology degree with honors from Texas A&M University Corpus Christi, where he helped establish the school's first pre-dental society, and went on to practice general dentistry for twelve years.

When life shifted during Covid, Daniel followed a long-held pull toward orthodontics and completed a three-year residency at the Georgia School of Orthodontics in Atlanta, where he also served as faculty, associate professor, and Invisalign Director. Coming home to Houston, the two of them built the practice they had dreamed about since dental school, on land that has been in Sara's family for more than forty years. The vision was simple: a place where patients feel truly seen, heard, and cared for.

That vision shapes every visit. The schedule is built around roughly ten patients a day instead of fifty, Dr. Mouzi performs every cleaning herself from start to finish, and every new patient receives a handwritten thank-you card. Dr. Escobedo, a board-certified orthodontist and an active member and leader in the Houston Hispanic Dental Association, plans each case with advanced 3D imaging and stays at the forefront of his field through teaching and continuing education. As Dr. Mouzi puts it, we are nobody without our patients.

Dr. Lisa Lam's path into dentistry started earlier than most. As a high school junior, her mom volunteered her at a local dental office, and she began at the very bottom, cleaning floors and sterilizing instruments. Over the years that followed, she worked nearly every role in a dental practice before earning her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from New York University College of Dentistry in 2008 and completing her hospital residency at Lincoln Medical Center in the Bronx. That ground-up experience shaped how she leads today. She knows what every person on her team is responsible for because she has done their job herself.

After years of practicing conventional dentistry, Dr. Lam found herself searching for more. When her own children faced chronic health challenges, she began studying the connection between the mouth and the rest of the body, and the more she learned, the harder it became to keep practicing the way she had been trained. She joined the International Academy of Biological Dentistry and Medicine, pursued additional training, and eventually opened Essential Dental so she could practice the way she believed dentistry should be done. Her approach is conservative and honest. She preserves as much of your natural tooth as possible, uses mercury-free, fluoride-free, and BPA-free materials, and only recommends what is truly needed.

What patients notice most is that she actually listens. New patient consultations run a full hour because the people who find her usually have a real story to tell, and she wants to hear all of it before making any recommendations. She works alongside functional medicine doctors and other providers to keep your whole health in view, and she holds herself to a standard she describes simply: she cannot rest until she knows the work was done right. Dr. Lam is a proud member of Spear, CDOCs, and the International Academy of Biological Dentistry and Medicine.

Questions Patients Ask Us

Am I too old for braces or Invisalign?

No. There is no age where straightening your teeth stops being worth it. Whether your teeth drifted after childhood braces or you never had them, aligners and braces work for adults, and most people around you will not even notice clear aligners. Dr. Escobedo, a board-certified orthodontist, plans every adult case individually.

How much do braces or Invisalign cost in Houston?

It depends on your case, so we look before we quote. What we can promise is transparency: you will know the full cost up front, there are no surprise fees, and financing options are available. Retainers and two polishes, about $1,000 in value, are included with every orthodontic treatment. Come in for a consultation and you will leave knowing exactly what your smile would take.

Do you take my insurance?

We accept and file PPO insurance claims for you as a courtesy. We are not contracted with insurance networks, and we tell everyone that up front. Being out of network lets us plan your care around what you actually need rather than what a plan will allow, and it is part of how we keep everything included with no surprise add-ons.

Does getting a cavity filled hurt?

We work hard to keep you comfortable. We use effective numbing, you are welcome to wear headphones, and nitrous oxide is available if you are nervous. For most people, the visit turns out to be much smaller than the version they built up in their head. Tell us what worries you and we will handle it before we start.

What should I expect at my first visit?

A warm welcome and no rushing. You are greeted by a person, walked back to your room, and we take our time. We look at your overall health first, take any images we need, and talk through what you actually want for your smile. You leave understanding your mouth and your options, never a ten-second exam that turns into a giant treatment plan.

Are you accepting new patients?

Yes, and we would genuinely love to meet you. We are a newer practice in Montrose, which means we have the time to give every new patient real attention. If you have been putting off finding a dentist or an orthodontist, this is a good place to start.
